Mohs Melanoma Chemosurgery Simplified to a Single Brief Caustic Application: Possible Vaccine Effect

چکیده
Mohs melanoma chemosurgery using 50% zinc chloride has not been widely accepted despite a 30-year consecutive series indicating 53% survival improvement (p = .003) for advancedmelanomas over conventional surgery. In chemosurgery, melanomas are fixed and removed in layers with 24-hour zinc chloride paste applications before each excision. An extra application is made to the tumor-free plane to encompass possible satellites.

Locally advanced breast cancer made amenable to radical surgery after a combination of systemic therapy and Mohs paste: two case reports
UNLABELLED INTRODUCTION Chemotherapy and other systemic therapies are the primary treatments for patients with unresectable, locally advanced breast cancer. The clinical application of supportive care using Mohs paste has become widespread for the purpose of improving patients' quality of life. Here, we report two cases of locally advanced breast cancer, for which the patients underwent radi...
متن کاملMohs Micrographic Surgery for Melanoma (printer-friendly)
Mohs chemosurgery, using the fixed-tissue technique, was proposed for the treatment of melanoma by Frederic Mohs in 1950.[1] In numerous publications since, Mohs reported cure rates at least comparable to those obtained with the conventional surgical therapies of the time. Initially, Mohs believed that the in situ tissue fixation with zinc chloride paste inherent in the fixed-tissue technique w...

متن کاملCommentary (Brown)—Mohs Micrographic Surgery: Established Uses and Emerging Trends
Drs. Pennington and Leffell have provided an excellent overview of the current uses of Mohs micrographic surgery. The procedure has certainly come a long way since the days of Frederic Mohs and the application of zinc chloride paste (chemosurgery). Despite the fact that it has indeed become the “gold standard” for the removal of basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), ther...
